LABORATORIES

There are twenty three laboratories in the college. The laboratories are well equipped to conduct practical classes as per prescribed syllabi and for minor research. These laboratories provide advanced tools and equipments for the pursuit of academic learning.

BOTANY LABORATORY

Department of Botany has three well equipped fully functional labs with all the basic instruments for Undergraduate and Post graduate students. These laboratories provide facilities like autoclave, spectrophotometer, centrifuge, laminar air flow, a sufficient numbers of microscopes and all kind of classroom material required to perform various basic to sophisticated experiments for effective teaching learning process. With these facilities students are able to have hands-on exposure to different experiments which strengthen their learning abilities.

ZOOLOGY LABORATORY

Department of Zoology has two well equipped labs with a Stereo Zoom Trinocular Microscope, Trinocular microscope LED, Glucometer and a Departmental Aquarium along with all basic facilities that provides a versatile educational, clinical and medical studies along with the routine practical knowledge.

CHEMISTRY LABORATORY

Department has excellent undergraduate teaching laboratories. Chemistry department has two main fully functional Laboratories with capacity of 55 students each. The laboratories are well equipped with latest equipments like UV Visible Spectrophotmeter, Flamephotometer, Digital conductivity meter and Distillation unit. These equipments are very well capable of analysis of micro and semi-micro scale analysis.

PHYSICS LABORATORY

Laboratory is an important medium of instruction in physics. In order to enhance the problem-solving skills and hands-on learning experiences of students’, laboratories become imperative.

Physics department has two well equipped traditional labs, one computer lab and two darkrooms. Other than the fundamental equipment like Vernier Callipers, Screw Gauge, Physical Balance, Flywheel, etc there have been special inclusions like:

  • An experimental kit consisting of two experiments, based on diffraction phenomenon and water waves, made for conducting the experimental competition during the 46th International Physics Olympiad (I Ph O) held at  Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, a National centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai in 2015.
  • A kit to do experiments on basic phenomenon of optics like reflection, refraction, diffraction, scattering etc.
  • Apparatus for doing a classical experiment to find the charge of an electron, for which Robert Millikan got the Nobel prize: Millikan’s Oil Drop Apparatus. The advanced model of the apparatus has an LCD display to eliminate eye fatigue and many more features.

BIOTECHNOLOGY LABORATORY

Biotechnology laboratory is well equipped with modern and basic instruments that include: UV-Vis Double Beam Spectrophotometer, Thermal Cycler (PCR machine), Laminar Air Flow Cabinet, Deep Freezer, Electrophoretic Units, pH Meter, Water Distillation Unit, Hot Air Ovens, Incubator, Autoclave, Microbalance, BOD incubator, Binocular Microscopes, Gel Doc systems.  Undergraduate Biotechnology students avail these facilities for routine experiments related to Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Plant and Animal Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Food Biotechnology, recombinant DNA technology and Basic Virology.

MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY

Microbiology lab is well equipped with all basic instruments required such as Laminar Air Flow, Incubator, Hot Air Oven, Centrifuge, PH Meter and Spectrophotometer. There are other instruments such as PCR, Transilluminator, and Gel Doc facilities for molecular level practices. There is also a provision of deep freezer for the preservation of cultures.

College enables students with first-class experiences on infrastructure and technology that align and expose students to constantly changing advancements in the field of geography. Geography Lab in the College was established in 2019 and is equipped with all basic and modern equipments such as Smart Board, Computers, Electric globes, GPS, Anemometer, models, charts and maps etc

The Department of Psychology has a laboratory where students perform practicals with the help of various equipments and questionnaires. Experiments are conducted in the laboratory to gain knowledge about the applied aspect of Psychology.

The English language lab plays a vital role in co-curricular activities. It is used for imparting training to students to improve their communicative skills.
