ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Home Science education in India started during early 1940’s with goals set to wipe out mass illiteracy among the women and teach them to take care of their family’s health and nutrition, clothing construction and raise their families in a meaningful manner. It is a well developed discipline of study being fairly broad based. It prepares the students not just for taking care of their homes and families but also prepares them for a large variety of careers and vocations both in wage employment and self-employment. Home Science is an inter- disciplinary field of knowledge with focus on Food & Nutrition, Fabric & Apparel Designing, Human Development, Resource Management and Communication & Extension.
MISSION
To prepare intelligent, contemporary and discerning homemakers/professionals who are assets to the family and society.
OBJECTIVES
The Department endeavors to achieve its goals by encouraging its students to progress to Higher Education and Placement.
The students assist the staff members in organizing seminars and workshops and in the process learn skills of organizational planning leading to their holistic development and fulfilling the vision and mission of the college.
- The participation in curricular and co-curricular activities assist students in developing their inter-personal skills.
- Using newer technologies to keep the students in sync with the changing times.
- Motivating students to take up entrepreneurial ventures.
- Encouraging the students to be discerning professionals and in family life.

TEACHING-LEARNING
The Department endeavors to incorporate the knowledge from latest research work to provide more relevant and acceptable principles. The individual are trained to function as nutrition therapist. It focuses on providing knowledge and developing appropriate skills and attitudes in learners for planning diets for the purpose of disease management. Different mode of teaching methods
