3 YOUTH PARLIAMENT ORGANISED BY: MUN Society The MUN Society organized a Youth Parliament on 26th September 2025 in the auditorium to help students understand democratic processes and parliamentary debate. The session began with brief introductory speeches, followed by discussions on the agenda “Pehalgam attack” and the effectiveness of Operation Sindoor. Participants presented well-structured arguments, showcasing critical thinking, public speaking, and awareness of socio-political issues. The event encouraged constructive dialogue and respect for diverse viewpoints. It provided a platform for students to develop leadership skills and a sense of responsibility. 4 One Week Faculty Development Programme on “Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Outcome Based Education (OBE) Strategies” The Department of Computer Science under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with TechnoledgeTM, organized a One Week Faculty Development Programme on “Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Outcome Based Education (OBE) Strategies” at St. Bede’s College from May 12 to May 18, 2026. he resource person for the FDP was Dr. Ravi Prakash Verma, Professor and Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at IIMT College of Engineering. Through expert lectures and practical demonstrations, he highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI in transforming modern teaching-learning practices. Faculty members from Government Degree College Kandaghat, Government Degree College Dhami and St. Bede’s College actively participated in the programme. The sessions focused on AI-enabled teaching methodologies, curriculum design, CO-PO mapping, innovative assessment techniques, and personalized learning strategies aligned with the objectives of National Education Policy 2020 and Industry 4.0 standards. 5 Online workshop on “Understanding Digital Safety & the DPDP Act for Faculty: Cybersecurity Awareness Initiative” The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Association of India, organized an online workshop on “Understanding Digital Safety & the DPDP Act for Faculty: Cybersecurity Awareness Initiative” under the aegis of IQAC on April 29, 2026, from 10:30 AM onwards. The primary aim of the workshop was to sensitize faculty members about the growing importance of digital safety and to familiarize them with the provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act. With increasing dependence on digital platforms in academic environments, ensuring data privacy and cybersecurity has become essential for educators. The resource person for the workshop was Nirmesh Kumar, a DSCI-certified Data Protection Officer with over 22 years of experience in Information Technology. Currently serving as Director at CMAI, he possesses extensive expertise in cloud computing and cybersecurity. The workshop served as a valuable platform for enhancing awareness about digital safety and the DPDP Act, equipping faculty members with essential knowledge to navigate the digital landscape securely and responsibly. 6 Online Guest Lecture on “Latest Technologies in Web Development and CMS” The Department of Computer Science organized an online guest lecture on the topic “Latest Technologies in Web Development and CMS” on April 9, 2026, at 11:50 AM onwards. The session was delivered by Ms. Anita Sharma, Senior IT Faculty at Sai Digitech Institute, Khalini, Shimla. The lecture was conducted through the online platform, MS Teams. During the session, Ms. Sharma elaborated on the significance of Content Management Systems (CMS) in modern web development. She also provided valuable insights into the working of WordPress and its practical applications in website creation and management.The lecture was highly informative and beneficial for the participants, enhancing their understanding of current trends and technologies in web development. 7 Two-day workshop on “Digital Literacy and Accounting” Two-day workshop on “Digital Literacy and Accounting” under the aegis of IQAC was held at St Bede’s College on March 24-25, 2026 organised by the Department of Computer Science and Commerce and Management. The resource person for the same was Dr. Pratyush Guleria, Director, NIELET, Shimla. BBA and BCA students of St. Bede’s College along with students from Centre of Excellence and Convent of Jesus & Mary school participated in the workshop actively. Workshop was organised to provide students with a hands-on training on Advance Excel and Tally. After the successful completion of the workshop, students were awarded certificates. 8 FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (FDP) ON SERVICE RULES FOR GRANT-IN-AID COLLEGES Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized a seven-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Service Rules for Grant-in-Aid Colleges” from March 16-23, 2026. The programme was conceptualized to strengthen the administrative and regulatory competence of teaching and non-teaching staff by providing a comprehensive understanding of service rules, governance mechanisms, financial procedures, and statutory compliance frameworks. The FDP was conducted under the able guidance of Principal Sr. Rosily T.L. with Dr. Gitanjali Mahendra serving as the Convenor and Dr. Shweta Thakur as the Co-convenor. Day 1: March 16, 2026 Session 1: Inaugural Ceremony and File and Record Management The first day of the Faculty Development Programme commenced with a formal inaugural session, graced by Sh. Sandeep Sharma, Deputy Controller at Dr. Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (MSHIPA), Shimla, who served as the distinguished resource person. The moderator of the session was Ms. Punam Chauhan and the rapporteurs were Dr. Devina and Ms. Jagriti. Following the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Gitanjali Mahendra delivered the welcome address and presented a comprehensive overview of the programme. She outlined the key thematic areas aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and institutional effectiveness in higher education including Administrative Operations, Regulatory Frameworks, Service and Welfare Provisions and Social Security Schemes. The second session of the programme focused on “Drafting, Endorsement, and Record Management in Official Work” and was delivered by Shri Sandeep Sharma, Deputy Controller, MSHIPA. The session highlighted the critical importance of accurate documentation and effective communication in ensuring efficiency and accountability in government offices. The resource person elaborated on the various forms of official communication commonly used in administrative functioning, including email, letter, office memorandum, DO letter, unofficial communication, memorandum, office order, and notification. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by the moderator, Ms. Punam Chauhan, who expressed her appreciation to Shri Sandeep Sharma for his insightful and informative deliberations. Day 2: March 17, 2026 Session 1: APAR and API – Performance Appraisal Systems The session commenced with a formal introduction of the esteemed resource person, Sh. Gopal Krishan, who is currently serving as the Under Secretary in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment H.P Sectt. Shimla. The introduction was delivered by the session moderator, Mr. Mohit Kumar, while the proceedings were documented by the rapporteurs, Dr. Navdeep Thakur and Ms. Charvi. The presentation focused on two key evaluation systems widely used in academic and governmental frameworks, namely the Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) and Academic Performance Indicators (API) ensuring accountability, monitoring conduct, and fostering professional growth. The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, during which Shri Gopal Krishan actively addressed queries raised by faculty members, providing further clarification and practical insights. Session 2: Right to Information Act (RTI), 2005 The second session of the programme was devoted to the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, and was delivered by Shri Krishan, who provided a comprehensive understanding of its legal framework, significance in a democratic system, and the procedural aspects involved in exercising the right to information. He explained the historical, and legal background of the act along with its core objectives of promoting transparency, accountability, citizen empowerment, and strengthening democratic governance through active public participation. He further elaborated on the rights and procedures for filing an RTI application, supported by a detailed presentation. The session witnessed active participation, with attendees engaging in discussions and seeking clarifications, which contributed to a deeper understanding of institutional processes. Day 3: March 18, 2026 Session 1: Procurement Procedures under GeM The session began with Dr. Shruti Gupta presenting a concise recap of the previous day’s deliberations, thereby ensuring continuity and contextual clarity for the participants. It was followed by the formal felicitation of the resource person, Shri Ravi Verma, Consultant, GeM trainer for GeM (H.P) by the Principal, Sr. Rosily T.L. The moderator of the session was Dr. Shruti Gupta and rapporteur of the session were Ms. Asmita and Dr. Anita Chauhan. In his opening remarks, the speaker introduced the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) as a unified digital platform established by the Government of India to facilitate transparent, efficient, and inclusive procurement of goods and services by public sector organizations. He explained the procurement process and guide in detail ensuing accountability, fairness, and optimal utilization of public funds, while encouraging participation from diverse stakeholders, including startups and small enterprises. The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of GeM as a robust, transparent, and technology-driven procurement system. Session 2: GeM Operations and Implementation The second session focused on the practical implementation of procurement processes on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) by Mr. Ravi Verma. The speaker emphasized the importance of product specifications, bidding and transaction process and also elaborated on post-delivery documentation processes. The session concluded with an overview of ongoing updates and evolving regulatory provisions within the GeM platform, reflecting its dynamic and adaptive nature. This was followed by an engaging interactive discussion and question-answer session, enabling participants to clarify their doubts and strengthen their practical understanding. The session formally concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shruti Gupta. Day 4: March 19, 2026 Session 1: Pay Rules and Pay Fixation The fourth day of the Faculty Development Program comprised of two sessions. The first session was about “Overview on Pay and Leave Rules”. The resource person for these sessions was Dr Amar Dutt Bhardwaj, Controller Finance-cum-Finance Officer, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The session was moderated by Dr. Savita Rana and Dr Ashwani and Ms. Pratishtha served as the rapporteurs for the sessions. In the first session, Dr. Bhardwaj shared his views on “Overview on Pay and Leave Rules” while elaborating on pay fixation, pay levels, and grade pay rules in accordance with UGC and Himachal Pradesh State Government norms. The resource person provided detailed insights on pay scales, including the structure of academic levels, entry pay, annual increments, and the transition from the previous grade pay system to the revised pay matrix under the 7th Pay Commission. Session 2: Leave Rules, Service Conditions, and Conduct Rules In second session, Dr. Amar Dutt Bhardwaj provided a comprehensive overview of the general rules governing leave, outlining the conditions under which government servants may avail leave. The session also addressed the combination of different types of leave, clearly stating that casual leave cannot be combined with any other form of leave, and that it may be sanctioned up to a maximum of eight days at a stretch. Dr Amar Dutt Bhardwaj elaborated on leave on medical certificate for both gazetted and non-gazetted employees, as well as provisions for employees who may be unfit to resume duty. The session also covered rules pertaining to absence beyond sanctioned leave, emphasizing that unauthorized absence without extension results in loss of leave salary for that period and is treated as dies non for all purposes, including increments, leave, and pension.The session further covered important Fundamental Rules governing service conditions. Day 5: March 20, 2026 Session 1: Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), 1952 The session commenced with a brief recap of the previous day’s proceedings by Ms. Neha Walia, setting the context for the discussions ahead. This was followed by a formal introduction and felicitation of the resource person by the Principal, Sr. Rosily T.L. The moderator of the session was Ms. Neha Walia and rapporteur of the session were Dr. Vishal Chauhan and Dr. Kusum. Mr. Prashant Kumar Assistant P.F. Commissioner (APFC) at the EPFO Regional Office in Shimla served as the resource person. Mr. Sharon Dular initiated the session with an overview of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), outlining its various schemes, including the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) Scheme, 1976. He also discussed important forms, procedures related to death claims, and the necessary documentation and conditions required for claim settlement. Subsequently, Mr. Prashant Kumar elaborated on these aspects with practical insights, demonstrating the procedures involved in filling EPF and EPS forms for both employers and employees. He highlighted the importance of the Universal Account Number (UAN) and EPFO along with detailed understanding of the terms and conditions governing EPF and EPS. During the interactive segment, Mr. Prashant Kumar addressed various queries from participants and the session concluded with expressions of gratitude from the Principal and faculty towards Mr. Prashant Kumar and his team for their insightful and engaging presentation. Session 2: Employee Pension Scheme (EPS) Mr. Prashant Kumar in the second session provided a comprehensive and detailed understanding of key aspects such as eligibility criteria, nomination provisions, contribution structure, and the formula for pension calculation as per Employee Pension Scheme (EPS). The discussion commenced with pension eligibility, EPF contribution structure and calculation mechanism. Participants were cautioned against common errors such as maintaining multiple unlinked UANs, neglecting to obtain the Scheme Certificate, discrepancies in service records, and mismatches in name or KYC details, all of which may lead to complications in claim processing. The session concluded with an engaging interactive question-and-answer segment, where participants from both online and offline modes actively sought clarifications on issues such as taxation of interest, EPF contributions beyond the age of 58, nomination procedures, and related concerns. The session ended with a formal vote of thanks, marking a meaningful and informative conclusion. Valedictory Session: March 23, 2026 The valedictory session of the one-week Faculty Development Programme was conducted with a sense of solemnity and enthusiasm, marking the successful culmination of the programme. The valedictory session was graced by the esteemed Principal, Sr. Rosily T.L., as the Chief Guest. The proceedings were smoothly coordinated by Ms. Snigdha, who served as the moderator. The rapporteur of the session were Mr. Nalin Sharma. The session began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. This was followed by a comprehensive overview of the FDP presented by Dr. Shweta Thakur who emphasized that these expert-led sessions collectively enriched the participants’ practical knowledge and strengthened their understanding of administrative processes and service rules. The gathering was then addressed by the Principal, Sr. Rosily T.L., who congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the programme and the session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Snigdha. A total of 73 participants attended the FDP in both online and offline modes. 9 WORKSHOP ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE A workshop on “Inside Artificial Intelligence: From Origins to Real-World Impact and Ethical Innovation” was organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) Regional Council RC-23, Himachal Pradesh under the mission “To Make Himachal Skillful.” The event was conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Technology Hamirpur and Department of Physics and Computer Science, St. Bede’s College Shimla. The workshop took place on March 10, 2026 and aimed to provide students and participants with a deeper understanding of Artificial Intelligence, its development, applications, and ethical considerations in modern society. The organizing committee included Dr. Kuldeep Sharma (Coordinator), Dr. Subhash Chand (Chairman), and Dr. (Sr.) Rosily T.L. (Co-Chairman). 10 NCC RAISING DAY The NCC cadets of St. Bede’s College, Shimla, under 7 HP Independent Company NCC, celebrated the 6th Raising Day of the college NCC unit on March 09, 2026 with great enthusiasm and discipline. The programme commenced with an impressive Drill Parade display by the NCC cadets, followed by a cultural programme in which the cadets actively participated and presented various performances, adding vibrancy to the celebration. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Lt. Col Sanjay Panwar (Retd.), Co-Founder of STRIKE, India’s first self-defense company and a distinguished Kargil War Veteran. 11 CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AT VILLAGE SARUILA BARUILA, DHALLI GRAM PANCHAYAT, SHIMLA The Women Cell and Gender Champion Club of St. Bede’s College, Shimla, under the aegis of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), organized an outreach activity to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026 at Saruila Baruila, Dhalli Gram Panchayat, Shimla. The event was conducted as part of the college’s initiative for the villages adopted under UBA. The celebration was based on the theme “Give to Gain,” which highlighted the idea that when society supports and uplifts women, it leads to collective growth and progress.As part of the programme, the members of the Women Cell conducted various outreach activities and interacted with the women of the village. 12 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY The Women Cell and Gender Champion Club, in collaboration with the NSS Unit and the Department of Botany of St. Bede’s College, Shimla, organized a meaningful programme to celebrate International Women’s Day on 7 March 2026 on theme “Give to Gain”. The programme commenced with a semi-classical dance performance presented by students, followed by a PowerPoint presentation that explained the historical significance of International Women’s Day and highlighted the progress made by women across various fields such as science, education, leadership, and social service. Students also actively participated in a poetry recitation session and the most engaging segment of the programme was a role play based on the life and achievements of Kamala Sohonie, the first Indian woman to receive a Ph.D. in science. 13 GRAD’S NITE St. Bede's College bid a grand farewell to its graduating batch with a vibrant and memorable graduation party held on March 03, 2026, in the college auditorium. The campus was transformed into a stunning display of cultural pride. The event was patronized by the Principal, Sister Rosily, whose constant encouragement and blessings added prestige to the celebration and the programme was further graced by the esteemed Chief Guest Dr. Purnima Chauhan. The cultural segment was a powerhouse of talent, featuring high-energy dance performances and captivating musical sets that kept the audience enthralled. 14 ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION 2025-26 St. Bede’s College, Shimla, celebrated its Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony for the academic session 2025–26 with great enthusiasm and dignity in the college auditorium.The function was graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University as the Chief Guest, while Professor (Dr.) Joginder Singh Dhiman, Professor, Department of Mathematics and Dean, Planning & Teachers Matters, Himachal Pradesh University, attended as the Guest of Honour.The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Anupama Tandon, the rendition of the College Anthem, and the presentation of the Annual Report by the Principal, Sr. Rosily. In her report, she highlighted the institution’s academic accomplishments and achievements in co-curricular, cultural, and sports activities during the year.Students were felicitated for their outstanding performance in academics, sports, cultural events, and inter-college competitions. 15 INTERCOLLEGE HACKATHON COMPETITION: TECH FEST An Intercollege Hackathon was successfully organized by the Hackathon and Ideation Cell of St. Bede’s College on February 28, 2026 to celebrate National Science Day. The event aimed to promote innovation, scientific thinking, and technological creativity among students from various colleges. The hackathon reflected the spirit of scientific curiosity and encouraged students to apply technology to solve real-world problems. A total of 12 teams from different colleges participated in the event. Students presented innovative solutions including software applications, IoT devices, robotics models, and smart environmental systems. The event provided a collaborative platform where young innovators could brainstorm ideas, develop prototypes, and present their solutions before an expert judging panel. The projects, and prototypes were carefully evaluated by the judges Dr.Nikhil Sharma and Dr.Tarun Sharma on the basis of innovation, feasibility, functionality, and presentation quality. 16 FREE MEDICAL AYURVEDIC CAMP On February 27, 2026, the Health Club of St. Bede's College, under the aegis of IQAC, organized a Free Medical Ayurvedic Camp in collaboration with BAMS doctors from Swasth Bharat Foundation Trust for the staff, students, and the general public. Dr. Osheen Dharmaik (Medical Officer) was the resource person for the awareness talk in which she highlighted women-related health issues and interacted with the staff and students, addressing their concerns and answering their queries. After the talk, the health check-up camp was commenced and the students, staff, and members of the general public were carefully examined. 17 NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK CELEBRATION “WOMEN IN SCIENCE: CATALYSING VIKSIT BHARAT” The Department of Chemistry, St. Bede’s College celebrated National Science Week on February 27, 2026 with the theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat.” The event aimed to promote scientific awareness and recognize the role of women in advancing science and technology. As part of the celebration, a hands-on training session titled “From Learning to Creating” was organized on the preparation of Beauty and Wellness Products. The session provided students with practical exposure to the formulation and preparation of commonly used cosmetic and wellness products. During the activity, students learned about the selection of ingredients, formulation techniques, and essential safety measures involved in product preparation. Under proper guidance, participants actively engaged in preparing the products themselves, gaining valuable experiential learning. 18 MEDICINAL PLANT EXHIBITION An exhibition on medicinal plants was successfully organized by the Department of Botany in collaboration with Herbal Garden Cell on February 25, 2026 to celebrate National Science Day. The exhibition displayed a wide variety of medicinal plants commonly used in herbal medicine and traditional systems such as Ayurveda. Students collected different plant specimens, prepared informative charts, and arranged live plant samples to demonstrate their medicinal properties. Some of the important plants exhibited included Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi), Azadirachta indica (Neem), Aloe barbadensis ( Aloevera), Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha), and Curcuma longa (Turmeric). Each plant was accompanied by labels describing its scientific name, family, medicinal uses, and significance. 19 NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY: ASSAM BIOREFINERY: FROM BAMBOO TO BIOFUEL – EMPOWERING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE On the occasion of National Science Day celebration on February 25, 2026, a presentation titled “Assam Biorefinery: From Bamboo to Biofuel – Empowering a Sustainable Future” was delivered by Astha Nresht, a student from B.Sc. (Hons.) Department of Biotechnology IIIrd Year. The presentation highlighted the concept of biorefineries and focused on the Assam Bio-Refinery project, which utilizes bamboo as a renewable biomass to produce second-generation ethanol. The speaker explained the major steps involved in the conversion of bamboo into biofuel, including pre-treatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, fermentation, and purification.. On February 24, 2026, the program commenced with the Screening of a Documentary on Sir C. V. Raman, highlighting his life journey, struggles, and the ground breaking discovery of the Raman Effect. Following the screening, a quiz competition based on the documentary was conducted. The session was interactive, intellectually stimulating, and witnessed enthusiastic involvement from the participants.Dr. Sapna Sharma, Head of the Department of Physics, delivered an inspiring talk on the theme “Unsung Heroes of Science.” She shed light on lesser-known women scientists whose remarkable contributions have significantly shaped scientific progress. An Exhibition of working models prepared by students of the Physics Department was another highlight of the celebration. The models demonstrated various scientific principles and reflected the students’ creativity, teamwork, and practical understanding of theoretical concepts. 36 Annual Special NSS 7-Day Camp The NSS Unit of St. Bede’s College successfully organized its Annual Special 7 day NSS Camp, engaging volunteers in a series of meaningful and impactful activities over seven days. The camp commenced with an inauguration ceremony, followed by sessions on environmental sustainability, yoga, and fitness activities like aerobics and Zumba. Volunteers actively participated in cleanliness drives, paper recycling, and waste management initiatives within the college. Outreach activities included visits to IGMC Hospital, where volunteers interacted empathetically with patients and contributed through Langar Seva, and a village visit involving cleanliness drives, community interaction, and a Nukkad Natak on digital awareness and environmental sustainability. 45 Anti-Drug Abuse Rally/Walkathon Against Chitta On 15 November 2025, the Himachal Pradesh Police Department organised a large-scale rally against drug abuse, specifically targeting the growing menace of Chitta. Its central purpose was to educate young people about the devastating physical, psychological and social consequences of substance abuse. 49 Psychology Department hosts Mental Health Week Exhibition, raising ₹5,245 for NGO Doers The Department of Psychology organized an exhibition in the college courtyard on October 14, 2025, to celebrate World Mental Health Week. The event aimed to spread awareness about the importance of mental well-being and to promote a deeper understanding of psychological concepts in an interactive and engaging manner. The exhibition featured a variety of stalls, including those displaying psychological tests, fun-based mental health games, and food items prepared by students. The psychology test stalls offered participants the opportunity to explore aspects of personality, stress, and attention, while the games encouraged teamwork, mindfulness, and positive thinking. The food stalls, managed by the students, added a lively touch to the event and attracted a large number of visitors from across departments. Through their collective efforts, students successfully raised a total of ₹5,245. 50 JALSA (Navratri Celebration) St. Bede’s College, Shimla, celebrated Navratri as part of the IQAC Inter-ship Activity. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh and saw enthusiastic participation from all students.The students creatively presented the history and significance of Navratri, focusing on local deities of Himachal Pradesh. Performances and activities highlighted the traditions and legends associated with Hat Koti, Bhim Kali, Hidimba, and Chamunda. 54 Health Screening Camp The Red Ribbon Club of St. Bede’s College, Shimla, organized a Health Screening Camp on 25th September 2025 in collaboration with DDU Hospital (DAPO). The camp was held in the college auditorium and aimed to promote awareness about general health and early detection of diseases among students and staff. A professional team of skilled doctors and healthcare workers from DDU Hospital conducted the tests and guided participants regarding healthy lifestyle practices the camp began at 10:00 AM with an inaugural ceremony attended by faculty members, students, and representatives from DDU Hospital.A professional team of doctors and technicians carried out the testing process efficiently. Different counters were set up for Viral Marker Tests (HIV, HBsAg, HCV, STF) and for general health parameters such as Hb, Sugar, and Postedits below 18 years of age were excluded from viral testing but were encouraged to participate in general health checkups. 60 DEBATE COMPETITION ORGANISED BY: Electoral Literacy Club The Electoral Literacy Club organized a debate competition on 20th September 2025 at 11:00 am in the seminar room to promote awareness about electoral processes and responsible citizenship. 61 Teacher’s Day Teacher’s Day was celebrated in college with the vibrant theme “The Grand Retro Fair”. The campus came alive with colourful decorations, cheerful students, and a spirit of gratitude towards teachers. 62 Hindi Week and Hindi Diwas Celebration On September 13, 2025, Hindi Diwas was celebrated with great fervour by the Department of Hindi, St. Bede's College, Shimla. The ceremony was held in the college auditorium in the presence of the college Principal, Sister Rosily T.L., the teaching and non-teaching staff, and all the students. The ceremony featured a captivating cultural program in which the students participated enthusiastically, followed by a meaningful speech delivered by the respected Principal. 65 The Anti-Drug Squad The event was graced by Ms. Geetanjali Thakur, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Dr. Puja Banhu, Additional District Attorney (ADA), and Lady Constable Ms. Nikita. A thought-provoking documentary, “Chitta: Heroin in the Hills”, crafted by Akshay Chauhan from Shimla through his platform @fablehousepictures, was screened. The film unveiled the grim reality of heroin silently corroding the paradise of Himachal Pradesh, compelling the audience to confront the crisis. Following the screening, students of St. Bede’s College engaged in an interactive Q&A session with the guest speakers. The discussion shed light on the dangers of substance abuse, its social and legal repercussions, and the urgent need for preventive action. 102 NCC BEE CERTIFICATE EXAM On February 7, 2025, IInd Year, NCC cadets of St. Bede’s College under 7 HP (I) Coy NCC Shimla underwent the NCC Practical Examination held at Rajiv Gandhi Government College, Shimla. The exam encompassed various components such as drill test, field craft and battle craft, map reading, weapon training and communication. The practical exam concluded with an interview session conducted by the Commanding Officer of 7 HP (I) Coy NCC Shimla. 58 International Day of Peace Description: On September 21,2023 the department of History and Political Science organised a session on anecdote narration to observe International Day of Peace based on the theme “End Racism. Build Peace”. 61 Auditions for Youth Festival Description: On 18th September, the auditions for the selection of students for the forthcoming Youth Festival were held. Students presented their talents and abilities for various events and competitions. 63 Event: Guest Lecture: Preparation of Competitive Examinations Objective: To create awareness about the recent trends of competitive exams among students. The department of English, St. Bede’s College organized a career counselling session on September12, 2023 at 2.00 p.m. The session was attended by teachers and students of the department. It was an interactive session where there was a talk followed by a discussion on "Preparation of competitive examination." Ms. Chitwan Jamwal an alumnus of the college was the resource person. The students were guided on how to prepare for exams like NET, GATE etc. It was a very interactive session which was attended by students from both UG and PG programs. The session came to an end with discussion on various approaches that can be followed by the students. 1 Walk for Health The “WALK FOR HEALTH” activity was conducted by Health Club, St. Bede’s College Shimla on 18th March 2023 under the supervision of Dr. Kusum Sharma and Miss Jagriti Chauhan. The purpose of this activity was to make everyone aware about the health benefits of walking and staying active. All the volunteers reported at the main gate of the college at 10:30 A.M. The concerned teachers made all the volunteers aware about the importance of this activity and the health benefits of walking like- improving balance, blood circulation, limiting sickness and building bone mass etc. The route of forest road was chosen for the walk as the nature-filled, lush green road provided students with the best opportunity to enjoy this walk to the fullest. Dr. Kusum Sharma acquainted the students with the information related to various medicinal plants and their usage. It was a two hour long physical activity which proved beneficial in teaching students health benefits in practicality. The activity came to an end at 12:30 P.M. with all the volunteers thanking the accompanying teachers and taking a resolution to make such healthy walks a part of their daily lives. May-18-2023
2 Celebration of International Women’s Day 2023 Sixty students from St. Bede’s College went to Gaiety Theatre for the celebration of International Women’s Day 2023 which was organised by the Directorate of Women and Child Development, H.P. The two documentaries “No Woman’s Land” and “Breaking the Ice” emphasized on the struggle of women for equality. These documentaries were directed by Dr Devkanya Thakur, who guided the students about filmmaking process and shared her creative inspirations. May-04-2023
3 NCC Raising Day NCC Unit, St. Bede's College under 7HP (I) Coy NCC Shimla organized an event to celebrate its 3rd NCC Raising Day under theme Red Feather of Reminiscence. The Chief guest for the day was Commanding officer Col Desh Raj Gargey. Cadets and ANO's/CTO's from St. Edward's School and APG Shimla University graced the occasion. 4 2023 Inter-ship Poetry Writing competition The Poetry Society organized an Inter-ship Poetry Writing competition on the occasion of International Women's Day. 9 WESTERN DANCE WORKSHOP The Dance Society “Danceteria” of St Bede’s college conducted a western dance workshop by Mr. Chirag and his team from “Obstinados the fam” (a Western Dance Academy) in the college auditorium. 10 Christmas Celebration Under the guidance of our Principal, Prof. Sr. Molly Abraham, NSS Unit has reached out to the less privileged to ensure that they are not left out from the Christmas festivities. For this purpose, the NSS Unit of the college visited New Langer Hall near IGMC Shimla, on December 24, 2022 and donated food grains and other commodities to the NGO, ‘Almighty Blessings’. Volunteers interacted with the founder of the NGO, Mr. Sarvjeet Singh Bobby, patients and their attendees. 11 Visit to Directorate of Horticulture Students of B.Sc. II year and M.Sc. I Semester visited the Directorate of Horticulture, Nav bahar. Students visited the polyhouses and nurseries exhibiting various types of flowering plants. Dr. Sangeeta scientist delivered a talk on various aspects of floriculture and gardening techniques. 13 Mass Awareness Rally against Female Foeticide Zoo Quest, Zoology Department, St. Bede's College Shimla organized a mass awareness rally from Navbahar Chowk to Sanjauli chowk, to spread awareness against Female Foeticide. The students expressed their emotions through posters and slogans, made people aware against Female foeticide. 18 World AIDS Day Red Ribbon Club of St. Bede’s College commemorated World AIDS Day in the college auditorium on the theme “EQUALIZE”. Red ribbon club volunteers guided the gathering on the topics of HIV/AIDS, securing the rights of people living with HIV, and fighting HIV stigma and discrimination. An educational video on the same was shown as well. The event was sponsored by CMO Shimla and District AIDS Programme Officer Shimla. 23 Silent March against Eve Teasing A silent march was organised by the Community Outreach Cell of St. Bede’s College, against Eve Teasing. The due permission was given by Mr. Aditya Negi, D.C Shimla. St. Bede’s college strongly protested against this social evil by silently marching from the college towards Chotta Shimla. During the march students held placards with slogans such as "Street Harassment is a Crime", "Stop Staring", "My Space, My Right" and "Stop Eve Teasing." Nov-21-2022
24 Blood Donation Camp A Blood Donation Camp was organized by the NSS Unit of the college. The program started at 10:30 am, followed by Powerpoint presentation on importance of blood donation . Many students and college staff donated blood and became a part of the program. A team of doctor and staff of blood bank, IGMC, Shimla came for blood collection. 26 Powerpoint Presentation by BCom Ist year students on topics The students were divided into four The students were divided into four teams and each team was assigned to present one topic via PowerPoint. The teams prepared their PPTs by using ICT tools viz. Canva and Microsoft softwares, laptop and smartboard. This activity was carried out in order to help the students build up their self-confidence, be familiar with the ICT tools, develop team spirit and also leadership qualities. Through a powerpoint presentation, Sardar Patel’s legacy and his tenuous efforts in integrating over 565 princely states into the Union of India were remembered and commended . To celebrate the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child, the students of Economics department presented an informative street play at the Navbahar Chowk. 53 Workshop on Career Guidance &Amp; Counseling. Ms. Gursheen Kaur (Counseling specialist and Regional manager, PIBM Chandigarh) and Mr. Deepak Sisodiya (Career counselor and motivational speaker PIBM, Chandigarh) informed the students regarding various career options available to them after completing their graduation degree and what jobs the students can enter. 54 NSS Day Celebration The NSS Unit celebrated the NSS Day with great joy and enthusiasm. A power point presentation was made highlighting the motto of NSS . The volunteers also performed a nukkad natak on the topic: ‘Food and Nutrition’ which depicted the importance of eating healthy food. Further, the celebration was made colorful by the NSS volunteers, by presenting different dance performances like Bhangra, Gidda and Nati, during the celebration. Sep-24-2022
55 Electoral Literacy Awareness The students of Electoral Literacy Club, with the nodal officer Ms. Komal Sharma attended an event organized by State Election Commission, Himachal Pradesh in the Gaiety Theatre, Shimla. Chief Election Commissioner of India Sh. Rajeev Kumar was the chief guest and he inaugurated an exhibition and Election song composed by State Police band 'Harmony of Pines'. 58 Presentation for school students on “Computer Awareness” Department of Computer Science and Mathematics organized a seminar on “Computer Awareness” for the students of Class VIII of Govt. 61 Interactive session on “Real World Applications on Table of Numbers or Data”. Mathematics department of St Bede’s college, Shimla organized a 7 day orientation program on “Real world Applications on Table of Numbers or Data” in which the students of BSc. (Non Medical), BA, B Com and BCA participated. The idea behind having such an orientation was to teach students about some basic concepts of matrices, its uses in day to day life . 63 Youth Festival. Youth Festival 2021-22 of Himachal Pradesh University was held in Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Longwood, Shimla. In Group -1, 422 participants from 53 colleges were registered. 104 “Har Ghar Tiranga”. Independence Day was celebrated under the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative of the Government, for three days. 110 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2022 A state-level awareness programme was organized in Shimla on the occasion of the International Drug Prevention Day on June 26th to create awareness among public about the ill-effects of consuming drugs and substances. A marathon was also organized by HP Police from The Ridge to Peterhof with the theme “Drug free Himachal, Say no to drugs”. The volunteers from St. Bede’s College, Shimla attended this awareness programme. Honorable Chief Minister Jairam Thakur addressed the gathering and announced that his government is setting up a special task force headed by an Additional Director General of Police to curb the menace of drugs. 117 Archives Exhibition, organized by State Archives, Language & Culture Department, Himachal Pradesh. Students of Department of History participated in a “Talk cum Archives Exhibition” organised by the State Archives, Language and Culture Department, Himachal Pradesh, at Sanskriti Bhavan, Kasumpti, Shimla. Mr. Prem Prasad Pandit, Deputy Director of Language and Culture Department was the resource person of the event. He emphasized the need of such program to highlight the rules and laws made by the Himachal Government for the protection of the records available in the records rooms related to Himachal Pradesh, so that there is an exchange of universal knowledge of the written wealth of Himachal. 5 Field Visit for M.Sc. students( Department of Botany) 36 students of M.Sc.(Botany) II and IV Semesters were taken to a field visit to Indian Institute of Advanced Studies.The purpose of visit was to study the flora, both wild and cultivated species of Advanced Studies and surrounding areas. 6 The 13th annual edition of the Peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal, Journal of Research The Bede Athenaeum was released by Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh Sh. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on 25th April 2022. The present edition of the journal encompasses articles in the form of full-length research papers, survey papers, and case studies from the field of humanities, basic sciences, and technology. 7 Archives Exhibition, organized by State Archives, Language & Culture Department, Himachal Pradesh. Students of Department of History participated in a “Talk cum Archives Exhibition” organised by the State Archives, Language and Culture Department, Himachal Pradesh, at Sanskriti Bhavan, Kasumpti, Shimla. Mr. Prem Prasad Pandit, Deputy Director of Language and Culture Department was the resource person of the event. He emphasized the need of such program to highlight the rules and laws made by the Himachal Government for the protection of the records available in the records rooms related to Himachal Pradesh, so that there is an exchange of universal knowledge of the written wealth of Himachal. Students were made aware of the various research facilities available in state archives. They were also enlightened about Tankri Script. The event was truly enriching experience for the students. 8 Library Activity for BCA students Topics were given to students of BCA IInd, IVth and VIth semester. They accessed various books and collected information for the topics given to them. Apr-06-2022
9 Lecture for school students Students of BCA IVth and VIth semester presented a lecture on the topic “Artificial Intelligence” for students of class VIIIth and IXth at Government Senior Secondary School, Chotta Shimla. Apr-04-2022
10 Superannuation of Mr. V.K. Sanoria Mr. V. K.Sanoria, Associate Professor,Deptt. of Physics superannuated on 31st March after rendering 35 years of committed services to St. Bede's College and to student community. The management and staff wishes him good luck in coming years. Mar-31-2022

12 Inter-college Economics Literary Meet An Inter-college Economics Literary Meet was organised by the Department of Economics, St. Bede’s College, Shimla on 22nd March, 2022 in which around 100 students of Economics from R.K.M.V, Centre of Excellence Govt. College Sanjauli, University College of Legal Studies, Ava-lodge, Rajiv Gandhi Degree College Kotshera and St. Bede’s College participated. Students participated in a number of competitions like debates, poster making, cartoon making, economics cross word, Shark Tank and Street Play. The power point presentation on Folk Dances of H.P. under EBSB was given by Ananya Chauhan, student of B.Com III Year to our counter part College Kahm Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, Kerala on google meet in which various dance forms of H.P. were presented and a beautiful pahari folksong was sung by Samaira Mahajan. 17 Children Day 2019 On the occasion of Children’s Day, i.e. 14th November, 2019, the staff members of St. Bede’s College organised a short function for the students in the Basketball Court of the College. The function began with a friendly basketball match between the teachers and students. The match was engrossing and kept the audience engaged and interested. Later, there was a game of musical arms and the teachers distributed sweets amongst the students. Overall, the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all the students. Nov-14-2019
