The college is affiliated to the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh since 1971.
The college discharges its functions in accordance with the rules and regulations established by
Himachal Pradesh University and Instructions/ orders issued by Directorate of Higher Education,
Government of Himachal Pradesh.
Major activities

• The major activities are in accordance with the vision and mission of the college that is to
  form well-integrated individuals who are assets to contemporary society.
• Young women are inspired to achieve academic excellence, they are taught discernment so
  that the students think for themselves and think correctly.
• Higher education is provided to all sections of the society without any discrimination.
  Students are sensitized to reach out to the marginalized and the underprivileged.
• Employment opportunities are provided through the Placement Cell.
• Skill enhancement employment oriented vocational courses are offered to the students.
• Team spirit is fostered to encourage a sense of responsibility and self -discipline through
  NSS, NCC, sports and extension activities.
• The students learn to adjust to the changing social milieu while not forgetting the traditional
  values.
• The talent of the students is recognised and encouraged through cultural and sports
  activities.
• Quality education, skill training and awareness building programmes, are offered to the

St. Bede's College is a women's college established in 1904. Is has been registered under the
Societies Registration Act of XXI of 1860 in the year 1974. It is affiliated to the Himachal
Pradesh University, since 1971.
The Congregation of Jesus and Mary govern the college. It runs as per rules and regulation
declared by the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The College comes under the “Grant-in-aid”
category; therefore, CA and CAG of India audit financial transactions. All the cells/ committees
of the institution are under Statutory Bodies and come under section 4(1) (b) of the RTI Act,
2005. The applications submitted under the RTI Act along with postal order/demand draft for
Rs.10/- obtained in favour of Principal, St. Bede’s College, payable at Shimla are properly
responded to on time. All information about the college under section 4(1) (b) of RTI Act, 2005
is open to the public and it can be obtained by any citizen of India.
